Convergence | Institute of Contemporary Art at VCU
While the Institute of Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University was designed by Steven Holl Architects with the concept of art galleries that fork out from the central plane, I noticed the opposite theme of convergence at play as well. At the busy street intersection, the convergence of energy and activity gives an upward twist to the shape of the forum. The museum itself also serves as an inclusive space for the convergence of a diverse range of people, art, and ideas. As such, the precedent study explores how form and program converge to shape a highly-dynamic design.
